We offered free dance lessons (Cajun 2-step, Zydeco & Waltz) at all three of our Mudbug Bashes and, whenever possible, at all our events. These dances are “social dances” (i.e., you need a partner) but they are not hard to learn and before you know it, you’ll be doing them. If you can walk, you can dance.
So don’t be shy—give it a try! As they say in Louisiana, “laissez les bon temps rouler” (let the good times roll)!

As Zydeco dance partners, Sharon Stern and Dwight Dupree emulate the minimalist Creole dance style of the Southwest Louisiana natives. When a Cajun band takes center stage, their dance style varies from the traditional waltz and two-step to a more modern jitterbug, prevalent in today's Louisiana dancehalls. Their instructional methodology removes the mystery from seemingly complicated dance steps, enabling the first-time dancer to quickly get the hang of it and "pass a good time."
Sharon grew up in Sumter, South Carolina, where she studied tap, ballet, and jazz for 13 years. She moved to Florida for college and

never left (Go Gators!). She began taking Cajun and Zydeco lessons in January 2000, and is now addicted. She is very willing to share her addiction, as she has co-taught in the Tampa Bay area for several years and at the Deerfield Beach Zydeco Festival for the past two years.
Dwight offered dance instruction at Mudbug Bash II, so many of us are familiar with his successful teaching style. Over the past decade, Dwight has often visited the Creole and Cajun dancehalls in the Lafayette-Opelousas area. Years of dancing with the locals, as well as the nation's CZ (Cajun-Zydeco) dance community, has provided exposure to various dance styles. For the past several years, Dwight has offered dance instruction at establishments in the Tampa Bay area, and continues to travel to a variety of locations to share his expertise.
