Formed in 2000 to bring bands and dance instructors to Tallahassee from Lafayette and the surrounding towns of southwest Louisiana (e.g., Mamou, Mire, Church Point, Opelousas, Grand Coteau), TAZACA began by holding its events at the American Legion Dance Hall. The first band to visit Tallahassee was Thomas “Big Hat” Fields & His Foot Stompin’ Zydeco Band. Membership soon grew past a hundred and many more Cajun and Zydeco bands were to follow Big Hat. Folks learned the difference between Cajun and Creole people, between Cajun and Zydeco music, and between the Cajun “two-step” and Zydeco dancing. Many caught the “fever” and began to travel to Louisiana to enjoy the many crawfish festivals there.
After the Legion Hall, our next two homes were Wilson's Bar-B-Q at 325 N. Bronough St., and the Bradfordville Blues Club north of town.
TAZACA’s next events will be:

It featured food, activities for children, crafts vendors, and dance lessons, along with performances by Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, Depot Creek Cajun Band, ZydecoZoo, The Porch Dogs, and Big Red & the Zydeco Playmakers.
